I want to be the greatest urban rapper, says Sucee
Eseoghene Atirene aka Sucee is a rare creative force reshaping the boundaries of African music. Born in Lagos and raised in Amuwo Odofin, the Delta-rooted artist describes himself as a fuss rapper—a rapper who blends multiple musical elements into a unified style.
He channels Afro-fusion through a personal lens he calls Afro-Urban Music, creating a sound that is distinctly his own.
In a recent chat, he said: “We have always been in a fusion era from the 2000’s. Urban music is the primary blend of perfection, mixing RnB and Hip-Hop, with other genres secondary-placed to produce a creative musical art.”
This philosophy defines his craft. Sucee draws inspiration from artists like Chris Brown, Tory Lanez, and other urban creatives. His sound exists between worlds—fluid, charismatic, emotional, and always evolving. It is not bound by genre but elevated through intentional synthesis.
Despite his quiet, reserved nature, Sucee’s creative identity is bold and unapologetic. “Sucee can’t be copied, but Sucee can be studied,” he says.
His mission is clear, ambitious, and non-negotiable: “I want to be the greatest Urban Rapper ever in Africa.”
